DECA is an association of marketing students that encourages the development of business and leadership skills through academic conferences and competitions. Each competition includes a written test over business and marketing information, as well as two role-playings, problem-solving events. Students are judged on the basis of their ability to develop and communicate sound, creative, and thorough solutions to the problem situations.
Payson High School Welding competed at the Nebo Invitational on Dec. 17, 2021 at Provo High. There were 6 competitors, three for welding and three for fabricating from PHS. This was the 12th annual rivalry and Payson was there to make a statement! In all the years of this competition PHS had never taken home the traveling trophy, through the efforts of these participants Payson is now the new home for Welding Traveling Trophy. McLayne Balzly took 1st Place, Wyatt Marvin took 3rd Place and Mason Thompson took 12th Place to give Payson the overall win.
Mrs. Ford’s Business Office Specialist students have the unique opportunity to become Microsoft Office Specialists by taking the industry-recognized MOS exams. Students who earn these certifications will possess marketable skills that will get them hired faster, and give them high-growth, advancement, and salary opportunities right out of high school!

The U of U College of Engineering Outreach Team is developing a new summer program for local high school students, The High School Summer Research Internship (SRI).
The SRI will be available for rising juniors and seniors (students who will graduate in 2023 or 2024) who are interested in engineering research. Students who participate in the eight-week-long program will be matched with engineering researchers at the U of U, will perform 30 hours of research per week, and participate in other activities coordinated by the SRI team.
