Payson High School Welding competed at the Nebo Invitational on Dec. 17, 2021 at Provo High. There were 6 competitors, three for welding and three for fabricating from PHS. This was the 12th annual rivalry and Payson was there to make a statement! In all the years of this competition PHS had never taken home the traveling trophy, through the efforts of these participants Payson is now the new home for Welding Traveling Trophy. McLayne Balzly took 1st Place, Wyatt Marvin took 3rd Place and Mason Thompson took 12th Place to give Payson the overall win. The Fabrication Team took 2nd Place, being beaten by a narrow margin. The team will go on to the State SkillsUSA Contest in March.  Our Fabrication Team consists of Weston Beddoes, Dalton McDaniel, and Luke Bates. All of these competitors represented Payson High School very well and will continue to add to the culture of winning in the future. Nice work Welders!
