National Winner from Mapleton Jr. High School, Kristi Mendenhall

Congratulations to Kristi Mendenhall who placed 1st in the State Make It With Wool Contest in the Junior Division!  She went on to the National contest held in San Antonio, Texas and placed 7th in the Nation.

Kristi is a 9th grade student from  Mapleton Junior High in Mrs. Groneman's  Clothing Class.

Nebo Advanced Learning Team visit CAPS Program

Nebo Advanced Learning Center was privileged to send 6 representatives to Kansas to visit the headquarters of the “CAPS Network”. CAPS, or Centers for Advanced Professional Studies, are programs that are recognized as innovative high school programs. Students have unique opportunities to be immersed in a professional culture and solve real world problems using industry tools. The ALC is working toward securing professional mentors from the business community to support our newly established program.

She also spoke to the communications class about how to get other people to hear what you are trying to say. Payson High Welcomes Computer Coder, Ryan Holdaway

Computer coder, Ryan Holdaway, spoke to Payson High's computer program classes about where coding has taken him. He has developed apps that make texting look like emoji's to everyone but your friends and manipulated the game Pokemon Go so he could get the best Pokemon while at work. Students asked him intriguing questions while he impressed them with the demand and flexibility of the job.

CTE Scholarship Avaialble

Students who have taken CTE courses in high school are elgible to apply for a CTE scholarship to further their studies in CTE.  Mnay schools are offering one year of tuition.

Application deadline to be hand delivered or postmarked to USBE is February 5, 2018.

This year there is an online application portion and also the portfolio. The instructions for how to fill the form out and submit are listed in the documents below.

Spanish Fork High School

Brad Warren’s HOSA/Letterman club at SFHS have been busy collecting teddy bears to help children at the Women/Children Crisis center.  They collected close to 900 new stuffed animals!  These HOSA students also had the opportunity to tour Mountain View Hospital and learn more about the wide variety of careers opportunities at a hospital.

Diesel Tech Pathway Announcement

Orem, UT (Dec. 18, 2017)—The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) today announced the expansion of the Utah Diesel Technician (Tech) Pathways program to include Alpine, Nebo and Provo school districts.

In addition to the new school districts, Geneva Rock, and its sister companies W.W. Clyde & Company and Sunroc have joined the program’s 11 existing industry partners to support and train students.
