It was an exciting week for our students in the chapter at Mapleton Junior High School as they competed at FCCLA Region 4 on February 8th. Our students have been preparing for their Star Event interviews in a few different areas. They have done an amazing job! So proud of them for putting in the extra work and getting a little stressed in preparation for their interviews. Students who participated were Jennilyn Hess, Hannah Brown, Sam Anderson, Vivian Tew, Rebekah Dastrup, Jenna Lyman, and Madison Rothlisberger.
February marks the start of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, and we kicked it off during lunch today at Salem Hills High. Each department set up information booths to help educate SHHS students about the class options available for the upcoming school year.
CTE courses give students an opportunity to explore possibilities and discover the pathways that align with their passions and future goals!

Our CTSOs (Career & Technical Student Organization) presented to the 7th-grade CCA students at Maple Grove Middle School today! We had a lot of fun teaching them about our FCCLA, FFA, and SkillsUSA groups! The 7th graders even got to make their own container of homemade butter! (Hopefully, that didn’t cause a problem for the custodians later!) Thank you to Ms. Peterson, Mr. Sorenson, and Ms. Huezo for inviting us! We can’t wait for these future Golden Eagles to be students at MM…and maybe they’ll be future officers in one of these amazing leadership organizations!
The Salem Hills Fashion Design Merchandising class, taught by Whitney Black, had a blast as they got to put together designs. They were given newspaper, tissue paper, a plastic tablecloth, and tape as their materials and had half an hour to put together a design before the judges came in. The teams presented their designs in a mini fashion show and did an amazing job showing off their talents!
From September 27 to 29, Salt Lake City played host to the 2023 ACTE Best Practices and Innovations Conference, a vital gathering for Career and Technical Education (CTE) leaders. Jointly organized by the NCLA and ACTE's Administration Division, this annual event drew administrators from secondary and postsecondary CTE programs for a concentrated and impactful experience.
Mr. Warren's Exploring Agriculture class grew herbs as part of the Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project throughout the semester. They also learned about plant care, maintenance, and growth patterns.
As a cross-curricular experience they combined with Mrs. Keliiliki's
Exploring Foods class to do their 'Farm to Fork' experience. It is a great opportunity for these students to see the entire process and benefits of doing SAE projects.
Supporting a cause close to our hearts! Our FBLA students participated in their annual service project by wrapping shoes for Warm the Soles. This program is run by Nebo Credit Union and shoes are donated to students in our community.
