On May 18th, the Spanish Fork Rodeo Grounds came alive with the energy and enthusiasm of approximately 3000 seventh-grade students from Nebo and Provo School Districts. The occasion was the highly anticipated Nebo CTE Expo, a dynamic event designed to help young students explore and embrace Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways. This immersive experience allowed students to engage in hands-on games and activities while interacting with various programs and local businesses, fostering a passion for future careers and empowering them as trendsetters in our society.

Come see how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are applied in fun and exciting ways at the 1st annual Utah County STEM Fest. There will be hands-on activities for all ages. Science, technology, engineering, and math, commonly known as STEM, are integral fields that shape our modern world. From the gadgets, we use daily to the awe-inspiring engineering marvels. There are numerous fun and exciting applications of STEM that make these fields accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages.   This event is June 1, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 pm at the University Place in Orem.

Mrs. Ford's Business Office Specialist students have earned Microsoft Office Specialists certifications in Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft PowerPoint.  This is a great accomplishment and we are proud of their hard work!

The following students took and passed the Adobe Certified Professional exam for Visual Design using Adobe Photoshop.  This credential validates proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software through rigorous exams and requires professional-level skills and knowledge to develop creative digital assets.  Congratulations to Cora Hansen, Elena Pendleton, Sara Schwartz, Amelia Hanosek, Macie Smith, Myles Fife, Benjamin Nagata, Wyatt Moses, Jacob Gibby, Brynn Spotten, Kyrstin May, Christian Nagata, Mason Brinton, Breanna Jensen, Ryatt Allen, Emily Gwilliam (not all pictured).

Students in Mrs. Whittekiend's Business Management class spent the semester developing their very own food truck concept. Students wrote a business plan, created a branding guide, wrote a mission statement, developed menu items, and planned and created social media posts and advertisements. Students then built awesome display boards, a food truck model, and promotion items. Presentations were given to their classmate and a panel of guest judges that included our very own administrators, counselors, and secretaries. Here a just a few great examples.

The ALC’s inaugural Pin On and Naming Ceremony took place on 15 May 2023. Pin On Ceremonies celebrate the hard work the ALC's Private Pilot class students put in and allow them to share that with family and friends. Naming ceremonies allow friends in the same pilot class to build camaraderie and help each other get through hard times with humor. The ALC Principal Mr. Bart Peery advised the students to keep looking forward in their career pursuits, and Ms. Tammy Olsen, ALC Aviation Teacher, reminded the students to keep learning and practicing throughout their careers.

Nebo CTE EXPO is set to take place on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds, and it's an event you won't want to miss. With a wide range of activities, demonstrations, and exhibits, this expo offers a unique opportunity to explore the local businesses, educational institutions, and public safety organizations that make up the vibrant community of Nebo.

Zeke Andrew took first place at the Utah State TSA convention on March 14, 2023. He will be representing Payson Jr. High School, Nebo School District, and Utah TSA at the National Conference in Louisville, Kentucky from June 27- July 2.

Della Wilkins and Miles Napierski from Maple Mountain High School were selected to receive full scholarships out of only 14 awarded nationally for the 2023 FCCLA’s Japanese Exchange Program. FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.

FCCLA’s Japanese Exchange Program is a scholarship opportunity for FCCLA members to travel to Japan for 6 weeks as an exchange student. This scholarship is funded by the Kikkoman Corporation and administered by Youth For Understanding USA (YFU). Each scholarship is worth $8,995.

The local cookie places better watch out because our Mapleton junior high foods students are baking some delicious cookies for their Master Chef competition!
