Congratulations to Katlyn Swan & Ryen Hansbrow for receiving scholarships to UVU.
Did you know that "nearly 45% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims survived when bystander CPR was administered?" (American Heart Association) Students in Ms. Prusak's Emergency Medical Responder class have been working hard this semester towards becoming certified in CPR and first aid through the American Red Cross. We're excited that they are learning these life-saving skills!
FFA had some students with awesome success. The proficiency award program recognizes students for the skills they have developed through their Supervised Agriculture Experience (where they take what they learn in the classroom and apply it in a real-world setting). In January, 12 of our students were named Area Winners (our version of region). These students then moved on to the state competition which was held in late February.
In January we held our 10th annual Nebo Invitational with six teams within the region competing. This year the event was held at two different locations, the Welding Competition was held at Payson High School, while the Fabrication Contest was held at Salem Hills High School. All teams were well represented and the competition continually gets tougher. This event was started as a pre-Skills USA event to help better prepare the students for the state competition and has served the schools well who have attended the state event over the years.
Last week we had our DECA state competition. The conference was held virtually through flip grid, even with this change our students performed well. All who finished in the top four qualify for nationals. This year nationals will be held virtually.
