Good job to Salem Hills, Springville, and Maple Mountain High School ProStart Culinary competition teams! They represented our district well when they attended the state competition held at the Salt Palace. Student chefs have one hour to cook a 3-course meal and present it to the judges, who are professional chefs. ProStart is a national program that is run by the Utah Restaurant Association with support from the Utah Career and Technical Education board. This would not be possible without Melva Sine and the professional Chefs she has run and judged the event. As all pathways try to bridge the gap from school to career, the ProStart culinary program is a great place for students to rub shoulders with potential employers. Students interested should take the prerequisite Foods 1 and Culinary 1 class.
