Salem Hills Ag had the opportunity to visit several amazing agricultural businesses and programs throughout Central Utah and learn about the many different career pathways available in agriculture.
They started the day at the Fountain Green Fish Hatchery before heading to Snow College, where they learned about the many agriculture programs, certificates, and career opportunities available to students. They also had the opportunity to tour their new indoor arena and fly pen, where they raise pheasants for release on public lands!
They next visited Rasmussen Mini Hereford Ranch and learned about raising smaller cattle and the opportunities available in this unique area of the livestock industry.
Then it was on to Stotz Equipment in Nephi. At Stotz Equipment, we explored the world of precision agriculture. We learned that there are so many careers connected to agricultural equipment—from sales and customer service to mechanics, technology, parts, and service. Agriculture truly offers a career for just about every interest and skill set!
They wrapped up their day at Sunshine Flower Farm, where we learned about diversifying an agricultural operation and saw some absolutely incredible dahlias!
A huge thank-you to everyone who took the time to share their knowledge, careers, and passion for agriculture with students. These experiences are such a great reminder that agriculture is so much more than farming—it is science, technology, business, mechanics, education, horticulture, animal science, and so much more!
