Our MMHS coding STEM ambassadors just completed attending Mapleton Elementary School 5th grade classes. It was a very successful year teaching these 5th graders, Through 8 visits many students completed a whole section on code.org. We would like to thank: Mr. Groneman, Miss Thompson, Mrs. Bradford, and Mrs. Bonnett for letting use be a part of their classes. Next year we look forward to teaching at Sierra Bonita.
We had two students competing in speaking contests, representing our area. Samantha Powell competed in the Prepared Public Speaking contest. She placed 2nd in the state. Breanna Harding competed in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking contest and came home with the State title! She will be competing at National FFA Convention this October. Both girls spent countless hours preparing for their contest and we are absolutely thrilled with the results!
Two students from Payson High became finalists in the individual event categories at the recent Utah DECA state conference, Shamara Britos (Retail Merchandising Series) and Landon Serynek (Sports and Entertainment Marketing Series). On the second day of the conference, towards the end, it was also announced that Serynek got sixth place in his category. Getting this placement means that he has the chance to compete at Nationals in Florida.
