Submitted by nikki.argyle on Mon, 11/08/2021 - 12:03

Every year the FFA holds a Nationwide convention and expo. We got the amazing opportunity to attend the first convention since Covid 19 shut everything down in 2020. With bags in tow, we left for the Salt Lake City Airport at 5:30 on the 26th of October. When we arrived at the airport we went through the grueling process of TSA and check-in.

Several MMHS students were selected by School Resource Officer Clint Peterson to participate in the N.O.V.A. programs at Larsen, Sierra Bonita, and Spanish Oaks elementary schools. The MM students served on a panel and answered questions from the 5th graders about drugs, bullying, alcohol, time management skills, how to choose classes in junior high and high school, and how to make friends, among other topics. Thank you, MM students, for your great examples to these elementary students!

From the day we left until we came home, National FFA Convention was more than fun.  It was an amazing experience.  We made friends from all over the United States.  We were able to see history in the Churchill Downs Museum and at the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum.  During conventions sessions, we were able to see the thousands of FFA members just like us, representing their states and chapters.  Students in our chapter learned that hard work pays off and even if life isn't going your way right now, don't give up.  You have to keep trying every day.  We encourage anyone who is in FF
