There were many booths, exhibits, and competitions they could watch. Students in fabrication competed in tractor pulls, drift trike races, and projects that were built throughout the year. There were a lot of hands-on activities for the students to experience such as welding, engineering, and agriculture.

ProStart Culinary Competition

Submitted by nikki.argyle on

Good job to Salem Hills, Springville, and Maple Mountain High School ProStart Culinary competition teams! They represented our district well when they attended the state competition held at the Salt Palace. Student chefs have one hour to cook a 3-course meal and present it to the judges, who are professional chefs. ProStart is a national program that is run by the Utah Restaurant Association with support from the Utah Career and Technical Education board. This would not be possible without Melva Sine and the professional Chefs she has run and judged the event.

I.HAD.FUN

Submitted by nikki.argyle on

This year the theme for CTE teachers district-wide has been I.HAD.FUN. Fun in teaching, FUN in the schools, FUN in being with students and co-workers, and FUN in Nebo. CTE programs and courses are a way to help students find out what they are interested in. By taking CTE courses, students get a better idea of what field of study or work they would like to proceed in whether it be college or trade.  CTE offers internships that a student can participate in after they have taken courses in that field. Opportunities in CTE are FUN!
