February is National CTE Month BUT what is CTE?
CTE stands for Career & Technical Education. Previously it was called vocational education. CTE focuses on teaching tech-based and career-oriented skills and prepares students with real-world skills that they need to enter the workforce in 13 different career clusters.
CTE aligns education and the workforce to ensure that today’s students are learning the skills needed in the competitive job market. CTE offers opportunities for internships, hands-on training and other work-based learning. CTE is a nationwide program that just doesn’t increase high school graduation rates but also boosts the overall US economy.
