Brad Warren’s HOSA/Letterman club at SFHS have been busy collecting teddy bears to help children at the Women/Children Crisis center.  They collected close to 900 new stuffed animals!  These HOSA students also had the opportunity to tour Mountain View Hospital and learn more about the wide variety of careers opportunities at a hospital.

Medical Forensics at ALC

Submitted by roxann.hoffman on

Ms. Grants Medical Forensics class recently pulled

out the microscopes to see if they could determine

what was on their wet mount slides. They were

challenged to use their deductions for their Medical

Forensics unit. The students were very engaged. It

was a great activity that they all seemed to enjoy.

Ms. Grant is very good at keeping her students

engaged in hands on-learning.

Robotics Department at Advanced Learning Center brainstorms with Provo City Bomb Squad

Submitted by roxann.hoffman on

The ALC was humming with excitement from the Robotics department this month. Provo City Bomb Squad, Sergeant Drew Hubbard, and Sam Sorensen brought their Bomb Squad robots for the ALC Robotics students to brainstorm and figure out how to make the scope on the rifle of the Robots gain movement, up and down and side to side, zoom in and out, yet still retain the accuracy of the laser points. The discussion was very interesting to be a part of.

Spanish Fork HS FFA Donated to Festival of Trees

Submitted by roxann.hoffman on

Spanish Fork FFA gave a gift of love to the Festival of Trees held in Sandy Utah. This year our chapter did a tree in memory of Levi Sampson who lost his life in an auto-pedestrian accident this summer. Students donated over 40 pairs of jeans to help with the decorations of the tree. In addition over 40 FFA members spent time making ornaments. There was an activity and classes that helped to put everything together. We would like to thank all of those who made the tree a success.

Spanish Fork FFA created float for Light Parade

Submitted by roxann.hoffman on

Spanish Fork High school students created a float for the Spanish Fork Chamber of Commerce lights parade.  It is a great way for our students to be part of the community . We were able to get our name out to many of the people who were there as well as through Channel 17 news.  Our float included a reindeer barn and Santa on a tractor.   We had students who came and rode on the float.

In total 7 students worked throughout the summer in the garden, taking care of the plants, harvesting, and selling produce. This year we grew 250 tomato plants, 75 pepper plants, 30 melon plants, and various squash plants. Our harvest was great this year, in total we harvested over 3,150 pounds of tomatoes, and countless squash, melons, and peppers! In total the garden sold nearly $2000 of produce at the Spanish Fork Farmers Market!
